Hot chocolate is the perfect treat on a cold day. There are so many emotions attached to hot chocolate from my own childhood and from when our boys were young too. It's such nostalgic drink. If you have little ones in the house, it’s probably the winter drink of choice when they come in from outside with cold fingers and toes. A quick google search and there are all sorts of homemade hot chocolate recipes with sugar, icing sugar, cocoa and powdered milk. This is the most cringeworthy part…..over the years we resorted to using the "add water" stuff in our house. That was until Ben from our farm family introduced us to this Brilliant Hot Chocolate Hack. It all started when Gillian bought some of our creamy chocolate honey for her nephew Ben. Ben had the brilliant idea of adding a spoonful of the creamy chocolate honey to a cup of hot milk and discovered the most delicious cup of hot chocolate!
As soon as I got Jane’s text (Ben’s mom) sharing this hot chocolate idea. I had to try it. It was incredible, I couldn’t believe how good it was. The balance between the cocoa and the sweetness the honey added along with the creaminess the milk made this hot chocolate unbelievably good. I didn’t trust myself to be completely unbiased so I made another batch and had Mark taste test it. I gave him no back story other than saying “Try this” … He took a sip and replied: “That’s great hot chocolate. How did you make that?” “With just two things” I said…”Milk and our Chocolate Honey”.
Here’s how to make Healthy Hot Chocolate.
For every cup of milk add a heaping teaspoon of Maple Ridge Farm Creamy Chocolate Honey. Heat the milk and honey, stirring slowly until the honey has melted into the milk.
