I was chatting with my friend the other day while she was standing in her kitchen, digging around for something sweet. She’s trying to be a bit more mindful about what she’s eating, but let’s be honest—the more we try to avoid something, the more we crave it. And boy, do I know that feeling of wanting something sweet!
You know the feeling, right? You’re craving something…anything sweet! But then, later, you regret it when your energy crashes and you feel bad about eating something with a bunch of ingredients you can’t even pronounce. Yep, I’ve been there too.
Back to the story… So what do I (not-so-helpfully) suggest? Chocolate chips straight out of the bag (Skor bits work in a pinch too, I say). But then it hits me..Ding! I excitedly suggest..
“How about a spoonful of honey?”
To which she says, “I never really think of honey, other than for my tea”
"I use honey all the time I proclaim!" As though I'm the town crier! Hear Ye! hear Ye! 🤦🏻♀️
Seriously though...It’s a treat that’s actually good for you! It’s a natural superfood, packed with nutrients, and because our honey is raw and unaltered, all that healthy goodness is left just the way nature intended.
So go ahead—use it as your secret weapon for satisfying that sweet craving without the guilt.
AND in case you’re like my friend, here are some sweet ways to add a little honey into your life…
A spoonful of Cinnamon Swirl Honey in your coffee instead of sugary creamers. Warm, cozy, and naturally sweet—without the crash.
A quick vinaigrette: Raspberry Delight Honey, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and a pinch of salt. Whisk and drizzle over mixed greens. Way better than bottled dressing.
A drizzle of Cinnamon Swirl Honey over roasted carrots, sweet potatoes, or squash. The honey caramelizes, the cinnamon adds warmth, and suddenly, dinner is anything but boring.
A spoonful of any flavour of creamy honey drizzled over warm oatmeal. A simple, satisfying way to start the day—with a touch of natural sweetness.
Heat up your favourite milk, whisk in Creamy Chocolate Honey, and sip the richest, silkiest hot chocolate—without the mystery ingredients.
Take a tortilla, spread a layer of peanut butter, add a swipe of Creamy Chocolate Honey, place a banana in the middle, and roll it up. Sweet, protein-packed, and the perfect pick-me-up snack or on-the-go lunch.
Now, if all this has you thinking....I need some Maple Ridge Farm Honey, you're in luck—and it’s even easier to stock up!
Our honey is now available at The Limestone Creamery, both in-store and through their delivery service—so you can shop local and have it brought right to your door.
You’ll also find our honey locally at Grains & Goods Bakery, Glenburnie Grocery, The Cookery, Daughters General Store, and of course, as always through our farm store (currently pick up only).
