Natural Remedy for Rehydration

Natural Remedy for Rehydration

I don’t know about you but ugggghhhh this heat is brutal! When it’s this hot, you sweat just existing…and if you're sweating it means you’re losing electrolytes.

Electrolytes are minerals in your blood that regulate osmotic balance as well as muscle function.

The electrolytes you lose the most through sweating are sodium and chloride and to a lesser degree; potassium, magnesium and calcium.

Water doesn’t contain electrolytes, but it’s easy to add them.

Give your body a boost replenishing those lost electrolytes with this natural, easy to make recipe.

Fill 1 quart Mason Jar with water

Add a pinch of salt

(We use redmond real salt as it’s full of trace minerals including sodium, chloride, calcium, magnesium and potassium)

A squeeze of lemon or lime (optional for flavour)

A spoonful of Maple Ridge Farm Raw Honey (for sweetness and it contains potassium)

Stir it up and enjoy. It really is refreshing.

You can try adding a cup of coconut water (it has potassium, magnesium and calcium).

Adding fresh sprigs of mint or basil from the garden adds interesting flavour as well.

Cheers to cooler weather and restored electrolytes!
